South Africa's exports to Australia
We will start off by looking at South Africa's exports to Australia for the month of April 2019 on a tree map which shows the percentage of total exports to Australia made up by various product categories for the month of April 2019
From the tree map above it is clear that almost one third of South Africa's exports to Australia for the month of April 2019 was made up by vehicles, aircraft and vessels, with mineral products being a distant second place with just under 19% of South Africa's exports to Australia for April 2019 and machinery coming in in third place with it making up around 14% of South Africa's exports to Australia. Other noteworthy product categories includes Chemicals, Products of Iron and Steel, Prepared foodstuffs and live animals.

Next we take a look at South Africa's imports from Australia for the month of April 2019 on a tree map which shows the percentage of total imports from Australia made up by various product categories for the month of April 2019
The tree map above shows that mineral products imports from Australia made up almost 42% of South Africa's total imports from Australia for the month of April 2019, while chemicals coming in a very close second place with it making up just over 41% of South Africa's imports from Australia during April 2019. From the above it is clear that of the R3.3 billion exported to Australia from South Africa, vehicles, aircraft and vessels remains the biggest exports to Australia. This is mainly right hand drive vehicles manufactured in South Africa (on behalf of various German car manufacturers and then exported to Australia).
Cumulative trade between South Africa and Australia for 2019 (Imports)
The below shows the cumulative value of South Africa's imports from Australia from January 2019 to April 2019. Total imports by South Africa from Australia during this period amounted to: R 5 676 142 013
From the above it is clear that the single biggest import by South Africa from Australia is Chemicals, with it making up almost 50% of imports from Australia during the period January 2019 to April 2019.
In total South Africa has a trade deficit of -R2.375 billion for the 4 months of 2019. In 2018 South Africa had a trade deficit with Australia of R5.93 billion. So not only does South Africa lose regularly against Australia in Rugby and Cricket, its losing out against Australia when it comes to trade too, with we exporting far less in goods from Australia than what we import from Australia.
