The Losers:
The big loser in Limpops's economy is the Mining and Quarrying sector. The sector made up roughly 37% of Limpopo's economy in 1995. That has dwindled down to around28% in 2014. Thats a massive drop in the relative importance of the Mining and Quarrying sector in Limpopo over time
On the winning side there is a couple, Finance, Real Estate and business services showed strong growth as was the case with South Africa as a whole (see South Africa GDP animation).
The Trade sector in Limpopo grew very marginally from around 14% to 15.5%. The Government sector grew substantially over the last 20 years. This is either due to greater government spending going towards previously neglected areas of the country, or the other sectors declined or grew at a slower pace than the government sector. We suspect the growth in Government sector in Limpopo is due to concerted efforts by Government to spend more in the province to address various legacy issues.
