So how does income earned so far in 2018 compare with 2017
The bar chart below shows the income earned from Food sales by the three main outlet types, being "Restaurants and coffee shops", "Take-aways and Fast foods" and "Catering Services". Catering services includes all bars and pubs as well as actual catering companies. As the graphic shows the biggest income earner for food sales is "Restaurants and coffee shops", followed by take-away and fast food outlets and lagging far behind is catering services. Income from food sales per outlet type for first 4 months of 2018 compared to first 4 months of 2017:
- Restaurants and Coffee Shops (2018): R9.58billion (+9% compared to 2017)
- Restaurants and Coffee Shops (2017): R8.78billion
- Take-away and Fast food outlets (2018): R7.15billion (+9.23% compared to 2017)
- Take-away and Fast food outlets (2017): R6.54billion
- Catering Services (2018): R2.25billion (+6.9% compared to 2017)
- Catering Services (2017): R2.10billion
