The bar chart below shows the total vehicle sales for 2018 (up to May 2018) per car manufacturer. And as readers can see the battle for the top spot is very close with Volkswagen and Toyota battling it out for top selling car brand in South Africa.
Based on the data above, Volkswagen has sold 28 615 cars in South Africa during the first 5 months of 2018. Volkswagen vehicle sales makes up 19.54% of vehicles sold in South Africa. Toyota comes in a close 2nd with them having sold 26 739 vehicles in the first 5 months of 2018 in South Africa, which means Toyota sold 18.26% of all new vehicles sold in South Africa so far in 2018.
Surprising to some readers might be the fact that Hyundai is the 3rd best selling vehicle manufacturer in South Africa, with them having sold 13 629 cars so far in 2018, or 9.3% of all new vehicles being sold in South Africa.
