South Africa's trade balance per major product category traded with the United States
The summary below shows South Africa's trade balance with the United States per major product category (sorted from the biggest trade surplus to biggest trade deficit). A trade surplus shows South Africa exported more of a product than what it imported and a trade deficit shows South Africa imported more of an product than what it exported.
So in 2019 South Africa exported goods to the United States totalling R89.464 billion while it imported goods to the total value of R83.449 billion, leaving South Africa with a trade surplus (positive trade balance) in 2019 with the United States to value of R6.014 billion in 2019. South Africa should be very chuffed with that, especially considering the fact that it has a massive trade deficit with its biggest trading partner, China.
South Africa and South Africans would be hoping for more of the same during 2020, as its economy needs positive news such as this if its to gain any sort of momentum in 2020.
