A while ago we did an article on the average price of beer per 330ml can per province, and we found that poor Capetonians and rest of the folk living in the Western Cape paid a lot more for their beer than the rest of South Africa's provinces. See that article here: Click here
In today's blog post we take a look at the average price paid per 750ml of red wine per province over time. Now it has to be stated the data is supplied by Statistics South Africa and states "Red wine" and the bottle size. We therefore cannot comment on the year, cultivar or brand of wine used in the calculation of the average prices. But hey we dont want to sound like wine snobs. We just like looking at numbers. And we provide some below. |

The bar chart below shows the average price of a 750ml bottle of red wine per province per year from 2010 up to the latest available data for 2018. The citizens of Limpopo pay an average price of R45.30 per bottle of 750ml red wine.
Again it has to be noted, the quality of the wine might be noticeably different between that being collected and priced in Limpopo vs that in say the Western Cape. Only joking Western Cape reader.
